This department is at the forefront of research into asthma and has been instrumental in many breakthroughs, including the discovery of the first asthma gene. This research has substantially contributed to the understanding of asthma and has directed, both nationally and internationally, the guidelines for the management of asthma. As we are involved from basic research right through to the treatment of asthma patients the work AAIR supports is truly bench to bedside.
